I didn’t want to wake up and when I did, anger consumed me. Mr. Collins and some nurses stood around me. Apparently, they knew I would be rip-roaring mad when I woke and had already placed me in restraints.

“You tried to kill me!” I yelled

“Coyle, calm down, you are safe now. We would never let that happen. I would never let that happen.”

“I want out of this place now!” I felt no pain, just the intense fire of anger.

Mr. Collins asked the nurses to leave.

“Coyle, the fastest way out of here is to complete the tasks. The sooner you do, the sooner you leave. I wish there was another way. I would help, but…” he stopped.

“What is it Mr. Collins?”

“Another time. You need to rest for a few more hours. The second half of this stage will begin soon.”

“C’mon Mr. Collins, I’m tired of this crap. I just want to go home.”

“I know you do,” he whispered, looking out to the courtyard. He then came close to my ear, his gaze darting, checking the room. He started fidgeting with my sheets. “I will help you.”

“How?

“The time will come. You will see.” He stood up. “Okay Coyle, get your rest. I will come for you in three hours,” he said loudly then coughed.

He loosened and removed the restraints.

I tried to get up but found my body demanded rest. I conceded and slipped into sleep comfortably.
